Baptist Medical Center South receives highest mark in patient safety from national rating agency

Hospital earns highest “A” grade for quality of care.

Jacksonville, Fla., November 10, 2021Baptist Medical Center South is top of the class for patient safety according to a national organization’s latest rating. Baptist South received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for fall 2021, which recognizes the hospital’s achievements in providing the highest level of quality and safety.

This is the fourth consecutive time that Baptist South has received an “A” rating from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit organization committed to health care quality and safety.

“The ‘A’ grade is a testament to the Baptist South team’s unwavering commitment to safety, for our patients and their families,” said Kyle Dorsey, FACHE, hospital president. “In health care, there’s nothing more important than safety. I am proud our team achieved this recognition to highlight their daily commitment to quality.” 

Baptist Medical Center Beaches and Baptist Medical Center Nassau also received “A” ratings from the organization.

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog organization, assigns letter grades A, B, C, D, or F to hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures and their record of patient safety, which helps consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections. It is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. It is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public
