New HealthPlace On Demand app makes virtual doctor visits more convenient than ever, 24/7

Baptist Health’s new app makes connecting with a doctor easy, anytime

Jacksonville, Fla., Nov. 18, 2020 – As consumers grow more comfortable using telehealth technology for their medical needs, Baptist Health is introducing a new app, HealthPlace On Demand, powered by Telescope Health. The HealthPlace On Demand app connects patients 24/7 via video chat to trusted, board-certified ER and family physicians.

“Virtual doctor visits increased during COVID-19, and we see that trend continuing,” said Brett McClung, FACHE, President and CEO of Baptist Health. “Consumers want to see a doctor on their terms, when they need one. We want to meet their health and healthcare needs in ways that are most convenient to them. HealthPlace On Demand allows patients to see a doctor wherever they are.”

Medical care is provided by the same trusted physicians who provide care in Baptist Health Emergency Centers. Adults and children can be evaluated by a doctor online through the new app, and if needed, a prescription can be sent to the patient’s pharmacy. The cost of a HealthPlace On Demand visit is a flat fee of $69.

Through the HealthPlace On Demand app, local physicians treat many common conditions, such as:

  • Allergies
  • Arthritis
  • Asthma
  • Colds and flu
  • Diarrhea or vomiting
  • Fever
  • Headaches
  • Pink eye
  • Rashes, skin infections, bug bites
  • Respiratory infections
  • Sore/Strep throat
  • Sprains and strains
  • Urinary problems/UTIs

One of the reasons Baptist Health has introduced HealthPlace On Demand is so patients won’t delay care, which usually causes conditions to worsen and sometimes become chronic.

“No one plans for an illness or injury — we’ve all experienced the sudden onset of a cold or sinus infection. This new app provides a reliable and convenient option to get medical care immediately,” said Matthew Rill, MD, cofounder and COO of Telescope Health. “The physicians who provide care through HealthPlace On Demand work with Baptist Health caregivers to ensure coordination and seamless care.”

HealthPlace On Demand is now available at BaptistHealthPlace.com or by downloading the app from Google Play or Apple App Store. Creating an account is free and the app is HIPAA compliant.
